ANOTHER Jog. This time 10 minutes.

So i'm kinda getting the hang of this. I took a 10 minute jog yesterday and did some weight lifting. No pain, only pure bliss. I'm still taking it very easy and plan on doing this jogging thing once a week only. I could just walk briskly, you know.. but at least I know I can run if I had to. So in summary, I can jog without any adverse effects.

Another jog today!

I took another 5 minute jog today, 3 degree incline at 6 mph. IT FELT GREAT. After that I did some more weight lifting. I'm a lot more conscious of my back now so i'm not putting any unnecessary pressure on it.

MY FIRST JOG!

Hello everyone. I'm happy to announce that I took my first jog 3 days ago. 5 whole minutes running at 6 miles/hr on a treadmill with a 3 degree incline. I was absolutely painless. I didn't feel any pressure on my back during or after. It felt great!!! I'm planning on doing 10 minutes tomorrow and gradually up to 20. Someone asked me if I would do this operation again.. Hands down, YES. If I ever have any issues with any other levels I wouldn't hesitate for one second. My pain levels range from 0 to 1/10.. but mostly 0/10. Sitting tolerance is about 2 hours before I need to take a walk or lie down for 2 minutes. I've started doing weightlifting. I'm not doing free-weights yet but I am doing general body work like legs, chest, arms, and back on standing machines. I WILL NOT be doing squats. All my muscles are sore and it couldn't feel better! I missed this feeling. I've also been partying just about every weekend without any consequences the day af...

4 Months, 6 days Post-op:

Ok so I still haven't started doing any running, although I do feel like I could. I'm joining the gym once I get my shoulder fixed.. I have an impingement syndrome which I have to take care of first. Once that's done, i'm off to the gym to do some weights (no squats yet!) and light running. I'm not going to the levels of weight lifting that I used to do before (very excessive body building) but I do want to get back in an athletic shape. As for my scar: Not too shabby! That was 3 months post-op and it has improved a little since. I went to mardi gras last weekend. Partied my butt off. Had a tiny bit of pain afterwards (on the bone, not sciatica) but it settled in a few hours. I'm back in Miami doing my thing (working on a desk). Let me know if you have any questions.

I'd say i'm 80%-85% there.

My back is feeling stronger and stronger every day. I'd say that remaining 15% can be divided three ways: -5% in core strengthening -5% in nerves healing -5% in my own confidence in doing more things I still haven't gone jogging. I feel like i'm not ready yet, mainly because i've been hiding from exercising for the past 2 months. I promise i'll try in the next month.. i'm joining a gym here in Miami! Nerves are upset sometimes, but most of the time they are wonderful! They usually get upset after a long day of furniture shopping, nothing else. Overall, everything's great! I'm 100% better than pre-op. I've been out drinking and dancing, and the next day is bliss (except for hangovers of course!). I promise i'll get on that treadmill soon! If anyone has any questions, do let me know! I'll answer them ASAP.

Some pain after some seriously strenuous days.

I've been furniture shopping with my mom for my apartment in Miami. It hasn't been too nice on my back at the end of every day. It's not too painful but it is debilitating. A night's sleep calms it down 100% and i'm ready to do anything the next day. It's a wake up call. I'm not invincible. I am, in fact, still limited in my actions. I bet that a good 2 months of physical therapy/core strengthening will correct this though. I've been doing a few planks and what not and my abs are really hurting. They're a little weak because they haven't recovered but i'll be up and running for my next round really soon. Good luck to everyone.

Time to get serious.

I'm going to start doing core strengthening before I start jogging. So, starting today i'll start doing exercises, and i'll probably try to jog in two weeks. I've delayed this way too much; it's time to be a responsible person again.
